TOP PLAYS // COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Miracle in Athens

The Vols erased a 17-0 deficit before Georgia re-took the lead with 10 seconds to go in the game. Then, instead of kicking the ball out of the end zone, the Bulldogs inexplicably booted it short, allowing Tennessee to get a nice return out to the Georgia 40 yard line. With a short field and four seconds on the clock, Joshua Dobbs threw up a hail mary, which Jauan Jennings hauled in for the comeback, road win to stay perfect this season.

Clemson Holds On

The biggest game of a great college football weekend went down to the wire. Lamar Jackson and Louisville came up a yard short on a fourth down played that sealed the win for the Tigers. The hype train for Heisman front-runner Jackson hit a speed bump Saturday night.

Julio Jones Isn’t Human

The Saints defense held the Matt Ryan-Julio Jones connection to just one catch for 16 yards last week. I don’t think they liked that too much. The pair exploded for a performance straight out of Madden: 12 hookups for a Falcons-record 300 yards this weekend, making Jones the first to top the three-century mark since Calvin Johnson in 2013.

What if Odell Beckham Jr. played defense…?

Early favorite for play of the year? Could be. Michigan narrowly avoided being the third top-10 team to fall this weekend. Wisconsin was trying to drive for the tying score until this Jourdan Lewis one-handed INT sealed the win for the maize and blue.

Big Papi Honored in Boston

After a wondrous career in Boston that included three titles (and counting, maybe), 20 walk-off hits and hundreds of round-trippers, Big Papi is calling it a career after the postseason. Red Sox legends were in Fenway to honor the legendary DH and the team announced it would retire his #34 next season. Shop the David Ortiz collection here.

Angel in the Outfield

A fan's run onto At&T Field at the San Francisco Giants game on Friday ended abruptly when he ran towards Giants left fielder Angel Pagan. If you haven't seen it, check out Pagan's body slam

This day in sports history.

On this day 59 years ago, the Braves Eddie Mathews pounded a homer in extra innings to win Game 5 in the World Series. Shop that classic print here.

October 8

As Big Papi enters his final postseason, it’s only right to look back on one of his finest memories. David Ortiz hit a walk-off homer in the ALDS against the Angels. Be sure to stock up on the Red Sox legend’s career highlights.
