But Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio officially has named the 38-yard, game-winning fumble return for a touchdown by Jalen Watts-Jackson after a muffed punt as time expired Saturday at Michigan.

“I came up with ‘Rangers,’” Dantonio said today. “’Rangers: Mission 4: 10’ on that works perfectly. There you go. That's it. That's all I've got for you. We're on to Indiana.”

But first, an explanation. "Rangers" is the name of the punt-block team MSU put on the field to try to force a mistake. The 4 represents what MSU coaches told players all last week: that the mental aspect of the game would be four times more important than the physical aspect.

And the 10 represents the 10 seconds on the clock when the final play began -- after Dantonio had his players sit on the bus for 10 seconds to think about what needed to be done when the team arrived at Michigan Stadium on Saturday.

“We sat on that bus for 10 extra seconds because I wanted to make sure our players understood the size of this game, the bigness of this particular game, the impact it will have not only on them at that point in time but on their entire lives,” Dantonio said. “And so that's where the 4: 10 comes in.”
