Giants Panda x3 Print
A staple in the lineup of the recent Giants’ dynasty, Pablo Sandoval was one of the team’s most beloved stars. In Game 1 of the 2012 World Series, he channeled his inner Bambino, homering thrice in the contest. “Kung Fu Panda” became the fourth player to accomplish the feat, joining Babe Ruth (twice; 1926, 1928), Reggie Jackson (1977) and Albert Pujols, who had a three-homer night in the previous year’s Series, making this World Series the second-consecutive one to feature such a performance. This game was the driving force behind Sandoval’s World Series MVP résumé; he finished the Series with a .500 average and 1.654 OPS.
