Last Week's Top Highlights + College Football Kickoff!

Is it the Best First Week in College Football History?

Tony Barnhart says it is the best opening weekend of college football I have ever seen in his 40 years of covering this sport.

Donaldson Cranks Three Homers

One of the best hitters in the game backed that statement up over the weekend. Josh Donaldson hit not one, not two, but three bombs in the same game for the Blue Jays. That propelled Toronto to a 9-6 win over the Twins.

Sean Spence Truck Stick

Who says preseason football isn’t at full speed? Don’t tell Sean Spence that. He absolutely destroys this Oakland running back that ended up being a fumble recovery for a TD. The sound at impact might send chills down your spine.

Crazy High School TD Grab

The first football highlight in Alaska I have ever come across. But it is a deserved highlight. This high school receiver makes an insane one-handed grab in the end zone that is worth the watch.

Jarrod Dyson Spectacular Catch

Some say a pitcher’s best friend is a great outfielder. Well, Jarrod Dyson made a new BFF this weekend with a perfectly timed leaping grab to rob a HR. The look on his pitcher’s face is priceless.

Front Flip Goal

The first high school highlight was so good we had to bring up another one. Football to futbol now with something I promise you have never seen. A breakaway goal that included a front flip, yes I’m serious, over the goalie before putting the ball in the net.

Looking Back, Looking Ahead….

August 30

On this day 111 years ago, the legend Ty Cobb recorded a hit in his debut as a professional baseball player. He would end up with a not too shabby 4,189 hits to his resume.

September 4th

The longest game ever in the historic Fenway Park took place on this date 35 years ago. The Red Sox would end up losing the marathon 20 inning game to Seattle by a score of 8-7.
