The Week Replay • June 17

It ain't over yet.

LeBron was right. Nothing is given, everything is earned. Now it’s time to for either King James or the Splash Bros. & Co. to prove it on the biggest stage in sports. Game seven. Win or go home. This is it. Will the Warriors cement themselves as the greatest team of all time, or does LeBron James finally fulfill his destiny as Cleveland’s Chosen One? You couldn't possibly have  asked for more than this. Don't make plans for Sunday night unless they involve this game.

Wild goals highlight week of international soccer play

Check out these strikes from Euro 2016 and the Copa América Centenario. Players weaved through defenses, and scissor-kicked their way into the back of the net. Don't miss more riveting action from the pitch as these tournaments continue.

Infielders’ gloves shine in weekday MLB action

Whether it was a Jose Altuve jump-throw, an unconventional 4-6-3 putout started by Francisco Lindor, or a pristine glove-flip from Jose Iglesias, ground balls had a particularly tough time leaving the infield this week. Josh Donaldson gets double web gem points for his two spectacular throws in Philadelphia. Didi Gregorius made a leaping grab to rob a would-be hit in Colorado.

Catcher’s heads-up move saves game for Reds, but Freeman’s cycle gives Braves the win

Tucker Barnhart laid out to touch home for a bases-loaded force out in extras that kept the game tied at 6 in the 11th inning. Freddie Freeman hit for the cycle for the Braves, who eventually topped the Reds, 9-8, in 13 innings.

Shaun Livingston posterizes Richard Jefferson

For much of the NBA Finals, it hasn't been Steph Curry’s show. Surprisingly enough, the MVP’s backup has taken the lead, including this posterization of Richard Jefferson in Game 5.

Disc Golfer hits crazy shot for albatross

For your week’s dose of unusual sports, check out this two-stroke albatross on an 850-foot, par five hole at the Beaver State Fling disc golf tournament.

Bubba uses his hands

Watch Bubba hit a crazy (illegal?) shot during his practice for this weekend’s U.S. Open. Seriously, the PGA should look into allowing this so we can see it more often.

Looking Ahead, Looking Back

Game 7 Anniversaries

Speaking of Game 7s… Six years ago today, Kobe Bryant led the Lakers to a 13-point comeback win over the Celtics in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. Bryant earned Finals MVP honors… Monday marks three years since LeBron’s super-Heat team took down the mighty Spurs for their second-straight NBA title. Sunday, LeBron and the Cavs will attempt to stop a repeat from happening in Game 7 against the Warriors on Sunday… Sunday is also the 10-year anniversary of the Carolina Hurricanes’ Game 7 win in the Stanley Cup Final over the Edmonton Oilers.

Tiger’s last major — June 16, 2008

Yesterday marked eight (8!!!) years since Tiger Woods last tasted a major championship, when he finished off Rocco Mediate in an epic playoff. Woods hasn’t played in a tournament since August and withdrew from this year’s U.S. Open. Feeling old yet?
