On a chilly October night in St. Louis, the Cardinals’ third baseman put together one of the most electrifying single-game performances in MLB history. With two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning, trailing three games to two in the NLCS, David Freese stepped to the plate against Neftali Feliz, one of baseball’s top closers. Freese was quickly down 1-2 in the count, and the Rangers down to their final strike. Freese had one last shot to save the Cardinals’ season and he came through, big time, with a game-tying triple that tied the game at 7.

Up 9-7 in the 10th, the Rangers again failed to get one last strike to close out the Series and the Cardinals fought back once more. Later, Freese led off the bottom of the 11th inning with a towering walk-off shot to centerfield to keep the Redbirds alive.
